After graduating from Harvard with a degree in economics, Julia began working for a small, nonprofit, environmental think tank in Seattle, Washington. She then earned her master’s degree in public policy at the University of California, Berkeley, and returned to Seattle, spending more than 15 years working for the city on public utility rates as well as financing and policy-related issues. 

Now settled in Menlo Park, California, Julia volunteers for several nonprofit organizations and coaches high school lacrosse. Among the first alumni inducted into Middlesex’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, Julia was an All-League and All-American selection in lacrosse who captained girls’ varsity ice hockey and was an All-League field hockey player on the 1985 undefeated team. She was an All-American in lacrosse at Harvard, where she was captain of the 1990 NCAA lacrosse championship team, and she was a member of the 1993 World Champion U.S. Women’s Lacrosse Team.
