Eric rejoined the Middlesex faculty in 2016, having previously taught and coached during 2011-13. In the interim, he completed an M.F.A. in creative writing at Columbia University; published his best-selling comedic memoir, That Book About Harvard; worked as a freelance writer and commentator for The New York Times, CNN, and other magazines and media outlets; was inducted into the Middlesex Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015; and delivered the commencement address that same spring at the invitation of his graduating former students. His most recent novel, Gut Check, was named a Book of the Month by both Amazon and Barnes & Nobles, and was a Junior Library Guild Selection in 2019. Eric earned an A.B. in anthropology at Harvard, where he also played football and wrote for The Crimson. He lives on campus with his family in Landry House.
