Why “Bold”?

Middlesex students and alumni have a long history of high achievement.  From the classroom to the boardroom, MX graduates innately reach for that next level, challenging themselves and others around them to be better, do more – with confidence and courage.   Be bold.

The Middlesex Alumni Association strives to make those leaps and bounds more successful for those willing to take the risk.  And they do that by providing students and graduates with opportunities to leverage a fantastic alumni network through programs such as our annual career panels, social networking events, summer internships and financial aid that allows current students to participate in the many enriching experiences offered during their time at school.

All of these programs are funded by the proceeds from the biennial MxAA Gala Benefit and Auction, and this is your chance to join in on the fun all while supporting a worthwhile cause.

“The Gala is not only a great way to connect with past classmates and faculty, but it is a unique opportunity to surround yourself with those individuals who are currently involved with the school and learn about all the fabulous things Middlesex is doing to impact the student body today.”

Thanks to our reliable U.S. Postal Service, the invitations for the MxAA Spring Gala Benefit and Auction have all been sent, and we hope that you are beginning to make preparations to join your Middlesex friends and attend this fabulously BOLD event.

Featuring silent, super silent and live auctions, a sit-down dinner, and the Four Seasons’ famed dessert buffet, this spring soiree will be one you don’t want to miss.  We are also pleased to announce that this year we have partnered with Greater Giving to support mobile bidding and some online auction action!

Our auction items are truly incredible, and offer unique purchasing opportunities for all of our guests.  Between now and the auction, we will be tantalizing you with a sampling of our items and experiences.  Here are just a few:

New York, New York

The Tonight Show has been a television staple since 1954 and now you can see this iconic show for yourself with two tickets to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Taped at NBC’s historic Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the Tonight Show continues to wow audiences as the longest running regularly scheduled entertainment program in the country. You’ll be sure to have plenty of laughs as you watch Jimmy chat with the stars. This package also includes dinner for two at East Pole. Located in a landmark Upper East Side brownstone, East Pole Kitchen & Bar is a farm-to-table restaurant offering food that is simple and seasonal. East Pole “brings a hip vibe” according to Departures.

Fly Fishing Adventure

Treat yourself to some of the best fly fishing the country has to offer with this two-day, one-night experience on the South Fork of the Snake River in Eastern Idaho! Middlesex alumnus Chris Littauer ‘08 has been a member of the WorldCast Anglers’ guide staff and management team since 2010 and he’ll put that experience to good use for you and a guest. This overnight trip will take you through the 26-mile South Fork Canyon, which is home to some of the most storied dry fly fishing in the West! Both days will feature fishing for wild trout including native Yellowstone Cutthroat and Fine Spotted Snake River Cutthroat but also Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. Day one of the trip is a 10-mile float into the heart of the Canyon that is totally inaccessible except by boat and home to the highest concentration of nesting Bald Eagles in the lower 48. When the evening arrives, you’ll spend the night at a camp fondly dubbed “The South Fork Hilton” by decades of repeat anglers. The camp chef will prepare a delicious meal as you unwind and discuss fish both caught and lost. Day two will begin with a wonderful breakfast and then you are back in the boat to enjoy 16 miles of braided water deep within the canyon, giving you the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of fly fishing. The trip is good for a mutually convenient time within the next year. The high season for fishing the South Fork of the Snake is the July 1st – November 1st.

Autumn on the Island

Spend a long weekend in the Hamptons during the fall of 2019! Your getaway will include a home in Montauk that sleeps 8 and offers spectacular water views. The home is walking distance from Gurney’s Mountak Resort, which features a beautiful beach-side bar and restaurant. You will also have the chance to play two of Long Island’s exclusive golf courses, with rounds for three people at Maidstone in East Hampton and National Golf Links in Southampton. Both courses are routinely listed in the Top 100 in the country. This adventure is available during a mutually convenient weekend during the fall of 2019.

Tickets to this wonderful evening are $250 each, or for those of you who like to plan ahead, a table of ten can be reserved for $2,500.   The success of this year’s Gala Benefit and Auction will provide the MxAA with the funds needed to continue these valuable outreach programs.  ALL proceeds from the auction support the efforts of the MxAA, and a successful auction will allow us to increase our impact within the Middlesex community.

Online registration is convenient and gives you the option of providing credit card information for future bidding. For more information about the Gala – or to inquire about donating an auction item – please contact John Morrissey at 978-371-6523 or [email protected].
