Lacrosse Alumni Headed to NCAA Championships

This week is full of graduations, last classes and final papers but for four Middlesex alums, their sights are set on the NCAA Division I and Division III Lacrosse Championships this weekend. The Men’s Division I Lacrosse Semifinal between #1 Maryland and #5 Brown University features former Zebra A.J. Lucchese ’13, who plays attack for the Bears. The junior has eight goals and an assist and has played in all 18 games this season. The game will played on Saturday, May 28 at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.  Please click here to read more about Lucchese.

At the Division III level, Tufts freshman Brian Powers ’15 and the Jumbos face Salisbury in the NCAA DIII Men’s Lacrosse Championship game on Sunday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field, in Philadelphia, Pa. Tufts is looking for their third championship in as many years on Sunday. Click here for a game preview.  

On the women’s side, Trinity junior Clare Lyne ’13 and Franklin & Marshall freshman Claire Miller ’15 will meet in the NCAA DIII Women’s Semifinal on Saturday, May 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa in a rematch of last year’s semifinal. Lyne, a pre-season All-American, is second on the team with 62 points (6th in the NESCAC), second in goals with 49, and first in draw controls with an impressive 63. She was named to the All-NESCAC first team for the second straight year.

Claire Miller and the Diplomats won an overtime thriller last Sunday, edging Salisbury 63 seconds into overtime to advance to the final four.
