A Great Day at the Kingman Cup

On Monday September 28, 2015 alumni, parents and friends came out to Concord Country Club for the 11th Annual Brad Kingman Memorial Cup. Hosted by the Middlesex Alumni Association, sixty-six golfers and eight tennis players came out to enjoy the gorgeous weather and enjoy a round of golf or tennis for a great cause.

The event celebrates former faculty member Brad Kingman. Kingman influenced Middlesex in many ways over his 39 years as a teacher, coach, dorm parent, administrator, mentor and friend. Present at the tournament was Brad’s wife, Christine, who cheered on golfers throughout the day including her three sons, Dave, Phil ’82 and Brad ’84. Also present was Brad’s former colleague, friend and former faculty member Brian Davis.

Spirited golfers came ready to play and were greeted by beautiful weather and clear sky. This combined for a perfect backdrop to enjoy a day of camaraderie on the course. While fun was the primary focus, the day was not devoid of competition as each foursome vied to have their names chiseled on the coveted Kingman Cup trophy. As scores were posted during postgame cocktails and food, all teams anxiously awaited to see who posted the lowest score. Ultimately, the trophy was awarded to P.T Vineburgh ’97, Kendall Brook ’92, Dan Yamron, and Paul Harrison.

A big thanks to the Alumni Association for hosting such a great event and an even bigger thanks to all those who participated. It was great to have the support of so many people in honor of Brad and the day reinforced the sense of community surrounding the school.
