Four Seasons, Five Stars

Six years ago, when the MxAA began its search for a venue suitable for its inaugural Spring Gala Benefit and Auction, there were a few prerequisites: location, luxury and premier service.  The quest was brief, and one hotel distinguished itself from the rest.  Because of its unparalleled qualities, we are thrilled to return to the Four Seasons Hotel Boston on Friday, April 10.

The early part of the evening will take place in the storied Aujourd’hui, located atop the Grand Staircase.  Inside, creative displays of wonderful and unique silent auction items await your thoughtful and generous bidding.   Winners of silent auction items will be posted as guests proceed to the hotel   Ballroom to enjoy a delicious, sit-down dinner.  Here, the real action takes place when auctioneer Paul Zekos opens the live bidding, and offers all guests an opportunity to compete for some truly exceptional items and exclusive experiences.

If you would like to enjoy the Gala with some special friends, we will be offering “reserved” seating for tables of ten.   These tables can be purchased when you RSVP or register online (available in March).  Tables of ten are $2,000.   Individual tickets prices are $200.

Auction Item Sneak Peek #2

Edgartown Escape

Spend a week in the heart of Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard in this recently restored home. With five bedrooms, including a master suite, the home is perfect for a large family or even two families to enjoy. A comfortable living room, cozy sitting room, large chef’s kitchen and family room, spacious covered patio, and second floor porch all offer something for the whole family. The home is conveniently located in the village, just a short walk to the shops, restaurants, galleries, and the harbor in Edgartown. The house is available for a week’s stay from June 6-21 or September 11-30, 2015. Pack up the family and enjoy an island getaway!

Big Pappy Bourbon

All of the Van Winkle bourbons are made with corn, wheat, and, barley instead of corn, rye and, barley. This “wheated” recipe gives the bourbon a much softer, smoother taste and it also allows the whiskey to age more gracefully. Called “the bourbon you can’t get your hands on” by Foxnews.com, this bottle of 12 year old Van Winkle Reserve can be in your hands as the high bidder!

Seeing Red

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a college football powerhouse, having won the fourth most games in the history of the sport and five national championships. The Huskers women’s volleyball program is just as accomplished, having won three national championships and reached the Final Four eleven times. Husker football games have been sold out at home since 1968 (92,000 fans) and Husker volleyball games have also been sellouts since 2002 (8,200 fans). You and a guest can see these two storied programs in the same weekend with a fall visit to Lincoln in 2015 or 2016. This is a bucket list opportunity for any sports fan! Your host for the weekend will be Cornhusker radio voice and Middlesex alumnus John Baylor. John was behind the microphone for all three national championship volleyball seasons. Your visit will also include a tour of the opulent Cornhusker athletic facilities, as well two night accommodations in at a downtown hotel in Lincoln. This winner will have their choice of a handful of dates in which both Nebraska teams are at home and the dates will be available pending the release of the Nebraska volleyball schedule in the spring of 2015.

We are putting out a special request to all of our parents and alumni to please consider culling your wine collection for our benefit!  We will gladly accept your donations of wine for the auction.  In the past we have had donations from a single bottle to a full case, and everything in between.  We are fortunate to have a number of resources (parents and alumni alike) that will be able to help us curate your generous donations.
