Athletic Trainer’s Corner: A Message for Parents

Middlesex School has had the services of a Certified Athletic Trainer on staff since 1985. What does that mean for your child(ren)? Athletic Trainers help prevent and treat injuries for people who are physically active. Recognized by the American Medical Association as allied health professionals, athletic trainers specialize in the prevention, assessment, immediate care, and rehabilitation of injuries that result from physical activity.

Athletic Trainers must be able to recognize, evaluate, and assess injuries and provide immediate care when needed. At Middlesex School the Athletic Trainers collaborate with the schools Health Center staff and outside medical professionals for referrals, treatment, rehabilitation programs. Additionally they work with the Health Committee to establish guidelines for other health related issues in the school.

The Middlesex School Athletic Training Staff is able to provide much needed prevention, rehabilitation, and care of our student athletes. If your child was injured over the summer, had surgery or needs specific care, please be in touch. For more information on how we may help your athlete contact Laura Darby McNally’80, Head Athletic Trainer, at [email protected] or 978.371.6557.
