Incoming Head of School, David Beare, Visits Campus

This week Middlesex welcomed to campus our next Head of School, David Beare, as he and his wife, Rachael, visited for three busy and exciting days. During his visit, Mr. Beare immersed himself in all aspects of our community, meeting students, faculty, and staff in a variety of settings. He sat in on several classes, attended our weekly Wednesday Chapel, met with student leaders, and observed athletic practices. He ate breakfast with the facilities team, chatted with faculty over lunch, and ate dinner with students in the dining hall. He met with Admissions, College Counseling, the Athletic Department, the Academic Counsel, the Arts Department, the Development Office, the Deans’ Office, the Heads of Houses, and the Community Life Committee. It was an exhaustive (and, undoubtedly, exhausting) three days filled with energy, enthusiasm, reflection, questions, answers, laughter, engagement and absorption.

Perhaps the highlight of the week came during Tuesday’s assembly, when Mr. Beare introduced himself to the entire school for the first time. In a heartfelt and poignant address, Mr. Beare reflected on his deep admiration for the way in which every individual at Middlesex—whether student, faculty, or staff—is known and deeply valued by the community. The School eagerly looks forward to getting to know Mr. Beare and his family even more when they officially join the community this coming July.
