Middlesex parents descended on campus on October 19 and 20 for Parents’ Weekend 2012 and they left campus invigorated by the vibrant activity they witnessed.
After a presentation by the College Office to senior and junior parents, parents, students, and faculty gathered for class receptions throughout campus. These informal gatherings allowed parents to meet or reunite with each other, as well as interact with some of their student's teachers and coaches.
From there, everyone dodged the raindrops on their way to the Atkins Athletic Center, where a lovely dinner was served. The Middlesex Jazz Orchestra helped drown out the pounding rain, and Head of School Kathy Giles, Parents’ Committee President Tom Kreitler P’08’10’13’13, School President Alex Sadie ’13 and Vice President Lucy Hale ’13 all spoke to the crowd about life at school. Following dinner, the Middlesex choral and instrumental groups delivered an outstanding performance in Memorial Chapel in Lambert Hall.
Fortunately, Saturday dawned much brighter and parents were treated to a glorious fall day. Parents had the opportunity to sit in on their student's classes in the morning, as well as connect with their student’s advisor for an update on how the year has progressed thus far. Everyone had a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine in the afternoon as our athletic teams took to the fields. Wins by boys’ soccer, field hockey and boys’ cross country (who remained unbeaten on the season with the win) highlighted the day.
