MxAA; Making the Connection!

The Middlesex Alumni Association (MxAA) was founded 12 years ago with the goal of strengthening the relationships within and across classes, and as a result, reinforcing their bond to the School.    In other words, MxAA is all about making and keeping connections!  Since 2004, the Board of Directors  has since worked to establish a growing variety of programs that provide Middlesex graduates with the opportunity to enrich their alumni experience.  The MxAA is self-funded, and the biennial Gala Auction Benefit supports their many outreach programs:

Summer Internship Stipends

On Campus Alumni Art Exhibits

Alumni Holiday Receptions

Kingman Cup Golf and Tennis Tournaments

Career Advisor Database

Alumni Career Panels in NYC and Boston

Alumni Career Panels continue to grow in attendance, and have been especially helpful to young alumni as they begin to formulate – and reformulate – the steps in their career path. Testimonial from attendees has been rewarding:

“I just wanted to thank you again for organizing such an amazing event. The panel speakers were incredibly diverse and interesting, giving a wide range of useful advice. The event was a resounding success, and I know the one in Boston coming up will be equally as wonderful.”

“Thank You, Thank You, Thank You…”

Mel Bochner received a BFA from the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon in 1962. He is recognized as one of the leading figures in conceptual art in New York in the 1960s and 1970s and has created conceptual and installation art that has been displayed throughout the world. Bochner’s pioneering introduction of the use of language in the visual, led Harvard University art historian Benjamin Buchloh to describe his 1966 Working Drawings as ‘probably the first truly conceptual exhibition’. Bochner’s work has appeared at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Tate Modern in London. A retrospective of his work appeared at the National Gallery of Art in Washington in 2011. This 16 color silkscreen with color shifting inks was created in 2016 and measures 62 ½ x 46 ½ inches. Have someone to whom you owe a big thanks? Then this Bochner piece is a perfect way to express it!
