In 2017 over 330,000 works of art were submitted to the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and last week seven Middlesex artists were recognized for their exceptional work. Students in grades 7-12 were eligible to submit work in 29 different categories of art and writing, and several Middlesex artists were granted the prestigious “Gold Key” Award reserved for the very best works submitted to local programs. The competition was overseen by The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, an organization whose “mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
