Faculty Open Houses

It’s not uncommon for our students to visit faculty homes on campus for a delicious meal, a quick (or never-ending) game of Monopoly, or a casual fireside chat. But each year we also have a special weekend activity called “Faculty Open Houses” in which teachers across campus welcome in students for a variety of fun, games, and food. Some students settle in for an evening at a single faculty home, while others visit several different residences throughout the night and sample the different foods and festivities.

On a chilly winter night this past weekend, 17 faculty members and their families opened their doors to students and offered an eclectic mix of holiday-themed activities. Students sipped on hot cocoa around crackling fireplaces, baked reindeer cookies, battled in XBOX tournaments, watched holiday movies, played ping-pong, crafted ornaments, and snacked on donuts (maybe even sneaking a small piece to a faculty dog along the way). The food was delicious and the fireplaces were roaring, but according to our students, nothing was better than the company.
