Rob Houghton: Recent Works

Artist Statement:  The photographs in this exhibition represent a few of my on-going projects: Sudbury River reflections / ice abstractions / black and white images / still-life images / nature & landscapes. Most of my images are taken using natural light and in their original settings. Having trained on a large format view camera where each photograph takes 10 minutes or more to compose and shoot, I learned to slow down, look carefully, and pay attention. This photographic process allows me to observe minute anatomical details and the extreme beauty & complexity of nature and everyday objects. By taking a closer look, the subtleties of shape, color, shadows and light and other intriguing visual features, that might otherwise be overlooked, come to the forefront.
