After another beautiful weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta, it's safe to say that the Middlesex Crew tradition is alive and well. This year, the world's largest two-day rowing event celebrated its 50th anniversary, as thousands gathered on the banks of the Charles River to cheer on some of the best rowers in the world.
For the third year in a row, 9 Middlesex alumnae joined forces in the Alumni Eights event, competing in a field of over 40 boats, most of which were large universities and colleges. These 9 women raced hard and represented Middlesex crew with pride, finishing 21st overall. Congratulations to Laura Rothman '96, Kathy Smithwick '08, Kate Erickson '07, Louisa Berky '04, Olivia Blain '09, Paige Darby '11, Louisa Savage '09, Sarah Kate Read '13, and Deborah Rothman Darlington '93. In addition to the MX Alumnae boat, 12 other MX alumni spanning 6 decades also participated in the race this year. Congratulations to all of our MX rowers.
Middlesex also hosted a reception tent at the regatta's Reunion Village, an area that offers a lively atmosphere and fantastic views of the historic race. The Middlesex spectators arrived in full force this year, many of whom stopped by the alumni tent to say hello and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Thank you to all of the supporters who came out to cheer on their fellow zebras and made this such a memorable event.
