Come see this funny and original musical featuring an ensemble cast of almost forty Middlesex singers, actors and dancers. Admission is free, but patron seating can be reserved for $25 a ticket by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. All proceeds from patron seating support the department's biennial trip to England.
Urinetown won the Tony Award for best musical book and best musical score when it opened on Broadway in 2001. The show is a satirical musical comedy that pokes fun at a variety of musical theatre genres, but the heart of this parody is a send up of the most political and socially charged Broadway productions of the last century. For those less familiar with musical theatre history, the show should still be as fun as an opening number of Saturday Night Live, but for those in the know, there is an added bonus of watching some of your favorite musicals lampooned: Les Miserables,West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and Threepenny Opera. Upon hearing the title, you may wonder if this show is for real... we are delighted to report that it is anything but!
