Great Day for MxAA Golfers

Blessed with a gorgeous early fall day on a spectacular golf course, the 8th annual Middlesex Alumni Association Golf Tournament was a resounding success. Ten groups of alumni, parents, faculty, and friends gathered to play the Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley, NY on October 1st. Site of the 2007 tournament, Piping Rock once again delivered a fair but challenging test of golf along with some beautiful terrain. Golfers were able to enjoy one another’s company after the play was complete with refreshments on the patio followed by dinner in the clubhouse. At dinner, the winning group of Russell Abbott ’70 P’04’06, Archie Gwathmey ’70 P’11, Andrew Abbott ’04, and Ben Kussin ’04 were recognized for their astounding net score of nineteen under par. They barely beat out a group consisting of Joe Morrill ’58, Phil Davis ’58, Spencer Sloan ’75, and alumni office members Meggie Patterson ’01 and Paul Harrison P’06’12. The foursome of Curt Curtis ’62, Jay Duryea ’62, Andy Burnes ’68 P’98’04, and Sam Bell ’68 finished third.

Special thanks are due all of the tournament’s supporters, especially John Smith P’05, who helped our group gain access to this outstanding venue. Please look out for news of the date and venue for the 2013 tournament soon.
