First Annual Young Alumni Golf Outing

MX Young Alum Hit The Links

With a perfect summer Saturday as the backdrop, the Middlesex Alumni Association held its first Young Alumni Golf Outing at Stow Acres Country Club on June 16. The event was designed to be a spinoff of the annual Middlesex Alumni Association Golf Tournament that is held each fall. It was aimed specifically at young alumni, so a weekend date was chosen at a relatively affordable public course. Former golf captain Paul Burke ’03 was the first to suggest the idea. "The idea for a young alumni tournament was something born out of many conversations with my fellow alumni. We have always looked for more excuses to get together and could think of no better way than to hit the links on a beautiful Saturday in June.  Although we couldn't predict the weather, it turned out to be one of the best days of the year. The inaugural event was a resounding success as young alumni traveled to Boston from San Francisco, Chicago, DC, and New York just to relive some of the glory days over a few birdies (ok, probably more bogies). The day was a perfect combination of great weather, lots of laughs, and mediocre golf. I think I speak for everyone in saying we hope this is just the beginning of a long tradition in Middlesex history."

The initial outing was a terrific success and the Alumni Association looks forward to future editions of this event. The 2012 Alumni Association Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, October 1 at the Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley, New York.
