January 7th was dubbed “Hockey Day in New England” by New England Sports Network, which broadcasted hockey games featuring a rematch between the 2011 Stanley Cup finalists Bruins and Canucks and four Hockey East schools who battled outdoors at a rink constructed on the nearly 100 year old Fenway Park.
There was another notable hockey game that afternoon that did not make the airwaves, but featured just as much fun and excitement to those involved.
For the tenth straight year, Middlesex alumni hockey players gathered in the Pratt Rink to relive their high school triumphs, and connect with fellow hockey brethren. The creation of two balanced teams allowed for alumni of different eras to unite for a common “goal” of winning, creating a fun yet competitive atmosphere. Donning semi-vintage Middlesex jerseys from the 90’s, the teams battled good-naturedly in a game that provided plenty of offense, and was eventually won by the Red Team over the White Squad, 13-9.
A special thanks to P.T. Vineburgh ‘97 for his annual efforts in rounding up players. If you are interested in participating in next year’s game, send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
