The US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes Weekend annually showcases some of the top lacrosse talent in the United States. Attending the event this year in Durham, NC were the men’s and women’s senior national teams, the Navy and North Carolina women’s teams, and the Duke men’s team. Middlesex lacrosse was well represented with three former graduates competing for three of the premier division I lacrosse programs in the nation.
During her tenure at Middlesex, Meg ’11 was a US Lacrosse First Team All-American, a two time All-League selectee as well as co-captain of the team her senior year. She now plays for the Navy women’s lacrosse program which had an impressive 15-6 overall record last year.
Eileen ’11 is a member of the North Carolina women’s lacrosse team. At Middlesex, she played four years of varsity soccer and lacrosse and three years of varsity basketball. Her senior year, she served as team captain of all three teams. A defensive midfielder in lacrosse, she recorded 27 goals, 24 assists and 35 ground balls and earned First Team All-League honors in her final season as a Zebra. In game two of the Stars & Stripes tournament, Eileen contributed a goal versus the women’s national team to help the Tar Heels stay alive in their 8-17 loss.
Now entering his junior year at Duke, David '09 has had an impressive career thus far on the men’s lacrosse team. Last year, he recorded 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points (fourth on the team in points). He scored a career-high four goals in the ACC Tournament semifinal win over Virginia and added three more goals in the ACC Championship game against Maryland. At Middlesex, David was named a US Lacrosse First Team All-American as well as voted Player of the Year by the ISL. He finished his scholastic career second in points with 197.
