The Music and Campus Center: Steel Superstructure Complete!

The Music and Campus Center continues to develop day by day as what was once innovative thinking and imaginative renderings now becomes a reality. Working to move the engineered beam system into place throughout August and September, crews now have the steel superstructure officially in place. Exterior sheathing also began this month with slab pouring starting just this past week. Framing will continue in the coming weeks along with the installation of metal roofing. More exciting news is that the “green roof” growth has begun! The sedum trays have been planted, which will help with storm water management once the building is complete. The “green roof” will be directly above the new practice rooms of the building

The former facilities building has transformed into a complete steel superstructure.

Parts of the fromer facilties building remain and will be incorporated into the new Music and Campus Center

As a result of the increased foot traffic near the Day Student Parking Lot, Music and Campus Center, and East Fields, a new access road was installed and paved last week. The road diverts traffic to behind the Music and Campus Center towards the back of Eliot. This means the current road that curves in front of the Music and Campus Center building site will be landscaped and re-worked to be a footpath for student and general public foot traffic.

The renderings give a vision of what to expect once the Music and Campus Center is complete.

With crews working hard to keep the project on schedule, the completion date remains at Spring 2017, with the building opening for classes full time in the fall of 2017.
