The Curtis Center
Middlesex is thrilled to have completed construction on the Curtis Center.
The 106,000-square-foot athletic field house features two courts and a turf field, an indoor track, fitness center, locker rooms, and spaces to study, gather, and connect. The Curtis Center was designed to be much more than a place to play; it’s a place for the entire Middlesex community to come together.

The building is named in honor of Middlesex alumnus James F. “Curt” Curtis III ’62 and his family. Curt is a legendary Middlesex athlete who was a three-year starter in football, hockey, and baseball; a member of championship teams in football and hockey; a two-time All-League hockey player; and captain of the 1962 hockey team. The Curtis family’s connection to Middlesex reaches back nearly a century, with Curt’s father, Curt Jr., graduating in 1934, and his uncle Frazier in 1936. Curt never knew these remarkable men because both gave their lives serving our country during World War II. Their portraits are in Eliot Hall, and two oak trees were planted in their memory by their father, Curt’s grandfather. Across generations, Curt and the Curtis family have embodied profound loyalty and devotion to Middlesex, and we are delighted to name this new building in their honor.
