The interior walls of Middlesex are covered with plaster, brick, and stone, but they are also lined with history and individuality. Since the first graduation class of 1905, every senior has carved a wooden plaque to leave behind as his or her permanent, personal legacy to the school. These beautiful works of art, expressions of self captured in time, grace the halls and rooms of our buildings. They speak of a culture of individual expression amidst collective solidarity. Seniors work with arts faculty to design and carve plaques that reflect themselves, their Middlesex experience, and their era. Our students are surrounded by thousands of mahogany windows to the past, and they eagerly anticipate continuing the tradition with their own plaque, ready to leave their mark on Middlesex for centuries to come.
