The annual MLK Day program is designed to recognize and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Like the Diversity Symposium the MLK Day program is one of two required events during the academic year that is dedicated to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This year we were delighted to be joined by Dr. John Carlos and his biographer, Dave Zirin. Dr. Carlos and Mr. Zirin told the story of Dr. Carlos’ activism during the 1968 Olympics, and how it directly related to a meeting that he had with Dr. King earlier that year.
