There are quite a few former Middlesex rowers who are making headlines at the collegiate level this spring...

Kathy Smithwick ’08 who rows for the varsity eight boat at Duke University recently helped her team take home the gold at the 2012 San Diego Crew Classic. The Blue Devils posted a time of 7:08:47 to beat second place Oregon University by two seconds. The Louisville, Kentucky native also captains the team and has made the ACC Academic Honor Roll since her freshman year.

Also capturing the gold in the light weight division at the same race for Stanford University was  2008 Middlesex graduate Anna Garbier.  The Watertown, MA senior helped her team defeat top-ranked Princeton by an impressive seven seconds to take home the win.

Just down the road at Boston University, Griffin Duffy '09 continues to row on varsity crew, having finished the 2011 spring season with notable wins over Dartmouth, Rutgers, Syracuse and Columbia.

Two 2011 graduates, Eric Klinkhammer and Andrew Bayse have taken their rowing talents to MIT and Rollins University.  We look forward to following their success over the next four years!
