Each year Middlesex says goodbye to a talented group of singers, but for many, graduation day is only the beginning of the second verse.
We are excited to announce that eight of our recent grads have earned a place in their college a cappella groups. Jordan Ashwood, Laura Floyd-Jones, Dan Giles, Bailey Hoar, Isabel Lodge, Kyle Lyons, Sam Petrie, and Louisa Savage all have the prestigious honor of singing with elite a cappella groups. Jordan and Dan sing together in the Harvard Radcliffe Collegium Musicum. Jordan sings in the a cappella subset of the Collegium, and Dan sings with the Harvard Krokodiloes, an eleven man a cappella group that will be touring the world (six continents) this summer! Laura Floyd-Jones sings with Lafayette’s 16 member, co-ed group, Soulfege. Bailey Hoar has the honor to sing with both the Dartmouth Glee Club and the Dartmouth Decibelles (the oldest female a cappella group at Dartmouth—and the same group her mother sang with). Isabel Lodge is singing with Occidental’s co-ed group, the Oxy Morons. Kyle Lyons is singing with NYU’s N’Harmonics, which is a co-ed group that performs all over New York, and boasts alumni in seven current Broadway shows! Sam Petrie sings with the Yale Alley Cats, an all-male a cappella group that performs internationally (including a performance for President Obama). Finally, Louisa Savage sings with the Hamilton College Hamiltones, which is a student-led co-ed group.
Being a member of these elite college a cappella groups is not easy. Each group ranges in size from 12-16 people, admitting only a few new singers each year! Congratulations to our recent grads for this tremendous success!
