Li Chung (Sandi) Pei ’68, one of the most preeminent architects in the world, was named as the 2008 recipient of the Henry Cabot Lodge ’20 Distinguished Alumni Award at Alumni Weekend on May 17.
Sandi went on to Harvard after Middlesex, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then received a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
For 16 years, Sandi served as an Associate with I.M. Pei and Partners before venturing out to found Pei Partnership Architects with his brother Didi. Sandi remains a partner with the firm and he has worked on numerous award-winning projects, including the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong and the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
In addition to his exploits in the world of architecture, Sandi has given generously of himself in the community, volunteering with organizations such as Friends of the Upper East Side Historic District, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Museum of Modern Art.
