Instrumental Groups

Instrumental Groups at Middlesex

Jazz Orchestra (commonly known as “JOrch”) is by far the swingingest ensemble on campus!  With typically 10 – 12 musicians, we are both a little big band (playing big band – style arrangements) and a large combo (with lots of room for solos).  Repertoire covers many styles: swing, soul jazz, funk, Afro-Latin, modern.  Every spring JOrch finishes the year by professionally recording and producing a CD.  Playing in JOrch is a great way to improve your musical skills, explore new types of music, and have a lot of fun (while earning academic credit!).

Chamber Ensemble is our classical instrumental group. Students may participate in the group as a course for academic credit, when combined with studio lessons, or as an extracurricular activity.

Ask Me!

"MX's promise for me has been learning how to see through the demands of life to who I truly am. I've found the things and people that matter to me, but looking within and just watching myself change has been a vital part of my experience." —Hanna '12
